The game's creator, Garry Newman, commented on his surprise that the USD 10 title proved to be such a hit and added that it has since afforded him the opportunity to learn more about games development and programming.

"The day it went on Steam was a nervous day for me. How well would it sell, would it be buggy as hell, would Valve regret giving me this chance?" he wrote on his blog.

AMSTERDAM--Guerrilla Games, acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 2005, resides in a cavernous, five-story historic bank in downtown Amsterdam. There's even a safe in the basement where the servers are kept cool. But the developer behind the Killzone franchise, gave a small contingent of game editors carte blanche access to their upcoming game, and first PlayStation 3 title -- Killzone 2.

Listening to some of the taglines for the new game like "Our war, their planet," which sets up the large-scale planetary invasion of Helghast for the single-player campaign, and it becomes obvious that Hollywood has had a major influence on the team. During a presentation, Hermen Hulst, managing director of Guerrilla Games talked about the "journey through a hostile world where he wants gamers to feel unwelcome, and be part of big set pieces, dramatic events, and engage in a Hollywood-size experience."

David Jaffe Hates Nerd Sweat, Ponders Calling All Cars Failings

When Calling All Cars was released, the negative backlash drove David Jaffe to say some "non-family friendly" things about his critics, and eventually wound to him swearing off blogging for a month. However, hindsight being 20/20, Jaffe now acknowledges that his desire to try and recreate the feeling he had when he was playing games on the SNES in college may have led him to create a game that he now admits didn't have the legs for the 21st century gaming climate.
